Keyp Your Identity.
Keyp Your Digital Dignity.

Manifesto

The situation

Digital identity is a new currency. Without its disclosure, participation in the digital economy is impossible.

But providers and businesses that benefit from these transactions are doing too little to protect their customers’ electronic identities.

Hacker attacks, data theft, but also the abuse of data are real dangers. Identity theft is growing at a daunting rate. In the US alone, 17.6 million customers were affected in 2014 (according to the US Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Statistics, BJS).

In other countries, the situation is hardly any better.

The consequences are dramatic and not just in terms of money. A compromised digital identity often leads to restrictions on the ability to participate in digital life for years. The consumers are left alone with the risks and consequences. Therefore, the abuse of our digital identity is an attack on our self-determination and ultimately on our highest good: human dignity.

This is why we demand

  1. Making the protection of the digital identity a public task and ensuring its authenticity beyond purely technological approaches.
  2. The development of a systemic solution through businesses, science and lawmakers, with the goal lying in a secure and verified digital identity for every citizen and a distributed, publicly controlled identity infrastructure.
  3. An independent federation that enables and ensures the individual exchange of identity factors across a common identity infrastructure as opposed to a centralized storage of identity data by individual business enterprises and corporate network.
  4. That consumers who are innocently affected by identity theft must be fully compensated. And legislators are demanded to ensure this. Further, the consumer’s compromised must be restored to its unimpaired state as to enable the individual full participation in the digital life again.

Our contribution

We, the company Keyp, want to contribute to finding a convincing response to these challenges.

We suggest that companies and institutions that can without reserve associate themselves with the demands of this manifesto join forces with us.

We recommend that so-called authentication apps adopt the secure

creation and transmission of verified identity factors. For such service providers, this creates new business models.

Among other things, our contribution will be the supply of a secure, open exchange platform as well as frameworks and tools for the implementation of authentication apps.

Our credo

Secure and verified digital identities are the foundation of a digital economy that no longer knows any geographic boundaries. A convincing answer to the associated challenges results in a growth engine for companies in all sectors.

Digital dignity must remain inviolable. The core idea of Keyp is to ensure this claim – to always “keep” your own “key” to the digital world in your own power of disposition.
